ANIS Terms of Service

By creating an account or using ANIS, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.

1. The service

ANIS provides AI-powered voice transcription and text transformation (“Commands”). Output is generated by AI models and may contain errors; you are responsible for reviewing text before relying on it. AI output must not be treated as professional (legal, medical, financial) advice.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You sign in with a Google account and must provide accurate information. You must be at least 13 years old (or the higher minimum age that applies in your country); if you are under the age of majority, you need your guardian’s consent. You are responsible for activity under your account. One account per person; accounts are not transferable.

3. Plans, allowances and fair use

ANIS meters two different things separately, and the difference matters: dictation (speaking into the app to produce text) and file upload (sending us an existing audio or video file to transcribe).

• Free plan. A monthly dictation allowance, plus a one-time file-upload allowance. The one-time allowance is granted once per account and does not renew in later billing periods. The exact figures are shown in the app and on our website.
• Paid plans: dictation is unlimited. We do not meter your dictation and we do not show you a countdown. “Unlimited” here means unlimited normal use by one person; see the fair-use limit below.
• Paid plans: file upload is an allowance, stated in hours per billing period and different on each plan. It is shown at the time of purchase.
• Per-period allowances are counted per billing period and do not roll over into the next one. Where we offer top-up packs, what they add and how long it lasts is stated at the point of sale.
• There is also a maximum length for any single recording or file, shown in the app; it differs by plan.

3.1 The fair-use limit on unlimited dictation

Unlimited dictation is subject to a fair-use limit of 40 hours of dictated audio per billing period, on every paid plan. The limit is the same on all paid plans on purpose: it exists to stop automated abuse, not to separate one plan from another, and no person dictating by hand reaches it.

If an account passes it, we will normally contact you first and work out what is going on. We may then temporarily limit the account, or ask you to move to a plan that fits the way you are using ANIS. We will not silently reduce the quality of your transcriptions, and we will not charge you for exceeding it without telling you.

The limit applies to a single person’s own dictation. It is not fair use to feed the service pre-recorded, batch, automated, machine-generated or synthesised audio through the dictation path, or to share one account between several people.

3.2 Prices, payment and refunds

• Prices differ by country and are shown in your local currency before you pay. Where prices are displayed inclusive of tax, the figure shown is the amount you are charged.
• Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, acting as merchant of record; its checkout terms apply to the purchase transaction.
• Refunds: if ANIS does not work for you, contact us within 14 days of your first purchase of a subscription and we will refund it. Renewal charges are refundable only where the law requires it; you can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period.
• We may change prices, allowances, or the fair-use limit with at least 30 days’ notice; changes apply from your next billing period. If you do not agree, cancel before the change takes effect.

4. Acceptable use

You may not: (a) transcribe audio you have no right to record or process; you are responsible for complying with recording-consent laws that apply to you (including when using the optional system-audio capture feature); (b) use the service to produce or distribute unlawful content; (c) attempt to circumvent allowances or the fair-use limit in section 3.1, whether by automating or scripting the service, submitting pre-recorded or machine-generated audio as dictation, sharing one account between several people, or opening multiple accounts for the same person; (d) probe or disrupt the service; (e) reverse engineer the applications except where the law permits it despite this term; (f) resell or provide the service to third parties as your own offering.

5. Your content

You own your recordings and transcripts. You grant us a limited license to process your audio and text to provide the service (transcription, Commands, personalization, quota metering). If you are on the free plan and have agreed on the in-app consent screen, you additionally grant us a license to retain and use your recordings and their transcripts to improve the service, including training and evaluating the AI models that power it; you can withdraw that consent at any time and previously collected data is then deleted (see the Privacy Policy). We never use paid-plan content, or content from users who have not consented, to train AI models.

6. Availability and changes

The service depends on third-party AI providers and may be interrupted, rate-limited, or degraded. We may modify or discontinue features. The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy of transcription output, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

7. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of data you kept only on your device, or decisions made in reliance on AI-generated output. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, or limits mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence.

8. Termination

You may stop using the service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms; if we terminate without cause, we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid period. You can delete your account and all server-side data at any time from inside the app (Settings → Account → Delete account).

9. App stores

If you install ANIS from Google Play or another app store, that store’s terms also apply to the download and any in-store transactions. The store operator is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the service.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer is established, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its competent courts, without depriving you of mandatory consumer protections, or of the right to bring proceedings in the courts, of your country of residence where the law grants it.

11. Changes to these terms

We will post changes at the URL above and update the effective date; material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
